Press Release Body:
In Catzuquí, dreams can come true
Launched on November 2007, the Alternative Channel video contest on sustainable
development rewards the most compelling video uploaded to www.alternativechannel.tv.
Alternative Channel members used the site’s rating system to sift through 600
entries, eventually nominating eight videos in each language (French and Spanish). A
board of professionals from the communication, audiovisual and sustainable
development sectors gathered at the Alternative Channel Forum to determine the
winners. Among the judges were Marc Tessier, former President of France Télévision,
and Aziyadé Poltier-Mutal from the United Nations Development Programme. Using
judging criteria such as the videos’ persuasion, educational merit, values, rigor,
relevance and originality, the judges decided to reward the Adsis foundation with
the 8000€ prize. The video “Catzuquí, el paraíso de la cebolla” introduces the
concrete actions of a development project lead by the foundation in a small and
isolated village situated in Ecuador. The survival of the inhabitants depends on its
vital access to water, but also to health, education…
